Dance Cancellation Policy

How can I find out if a dance has been cancelled?

Visit the Friends of Greenfield Dance website:

If an upcoming FGD-sponsored dance has been cancelled, we will have it posted on our front page in the “News” section.

A cancellation notice will also go out electronically through the Pioneer Valley Contra Dance list serve and on the Friends of Greenfield Dance Facebook page.

If the Board decides to cancel a dance, every effort will be made to post that decision on the above sites no later than 4 pm Eastern time on the day of the dance. If nothing is posted, it can be assumed that the dance has NOT been cancelled.

Why would a dance be cancelled?

The Board of the Friends of Greenfield Dance, Inc. will cancel a dance if circumstances make it necessary to do so. This could happen due to hazardous traveling conditions, due to the band or caller canceling on short notice, or if for some reason our dance venue is not available.

We expect cancellations will be a rare occurrence. However, for the safety of all dancers, performers and organizers, the Board has developed this method to communicate a cancellation to the dance community on short notice.
